Our History

A home of faith and fellowship, where generations gather in Christ’s love..

The Beginning

Vision Initiated by Fr. Lourdusamy.

In 2005, Fr. Lourdusamy, then Parish Priest of Kanhei Mission, foresaw the rapid urbanisation of Sector 55, Gurgaon. Recognizing the growing Catholic population and anticipating future spiritual needs, he took the initiative to purchase a plot of land for a church.
His farsighted effort marked the beginning of what would later become Holy Name Church.

Growing Foundations

A Growing Catholic Community.

By 2009, a considerable number of Catholic families had settled in the Sector 55 area. Their growing spiritual needs highlighted the importance of establishing a dedicated parish.

A Mission Assigned

Archbishop Assigns Fr. Victor Emmanuel

In 2010, Archbishop Vincent M. Concessao, sharing the vision initiated in 2005, appointed Fr. Victor Emmanuel to oversee:

  • The construction of the church

  • The organisation and formation of the new parish community

Fr. Victor began the groundwork immediately.

Formal Establishment

Church Inauguration by Archbishop Concessao.

On 14 August 2011, the church was solemnly inaugurated by Archbishop Vincent M. Concessao and dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus, officially establishing the parish.

The initial parish community included:

  • Around 200 Catholic families from diverse cultural backgrounds

  • Nearly 2,000 domestic workers from the Chhotanagpur tribal belt, who enriched the parish with their strong faith and cultural identity

Under Fr. Victor Emmanuel, the parish began its formal journey.

A Flourishing Parish

A Parish Growing in Faith and Service

By 2015, Holy Name Church had become a spiritually active parish under the pastoral guidance of the priests who served over the years.
The parish grew through:

  • Catechism programs

  • Youth and children’s ministries

  • Choirs and liturgical groups

  • Small Christian Communities (SCCs)

  • Charitable and social outreach initiatives

Families came together in prayer, fellowship, and service.

Faith Through Challenges

Serving During the Pandemic

In 2020, the parish, guided by its clergy, adapted to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic by introducing:

  • Online Masses

  • Virtual prayer sessions

  • Digital catechism

  • Relief drives for affected families

The parish remained united and committed to spiritual support and compassion.

A Living Parish Today

Living Christ’s Mission

our core value

Foundations of Our Faith and Community Life

Faith is the guiding light of our church life. It provides purpose, direction, and strength. By embracing faith, we align our hearts and actions with God’s will, and it drives us to serve others, build meaningful relationships, and grow together as a community.

Love is at the core of everything we do. We express love through our outreach efforts, offering care and support to those in need, and fostering an environment where each person feels valued and heard. Whether through volunteer work, prayer, or fellowship, we seek to embody Christ's love in both small and large acts.

A true sense of belonging is created through authentic relationships, shared experiences, and meaningful participation. At Holy Name Church, we provide opportunities for people to connect, grow together, and support one another. Whether through worship services, community events, or volunteer groups, everyone is invited to be part of the church family.

Spiritual growth is central to our mission as a church. It helps us deepen our connection with God and equips us to serve with greater compassion and wisdom. We encourage spiritual growth through prayer, scripture study, and active involvement in ministry, helping each person move closer to their divine purpose.

Our faith, love, and spiritual growth principles influence every program and event we offer. From worship services to community outreach projects, our church’s activities are designed to help individuals live out these values in tangible ways. Every opportunity for engagement is meant to foster a deeper connection to God, strengthen relationships within the community, and inspire service to others.
