The Maundy Thursday celebration at Holy Name Church in 2026 was observed with deep reverence, marking the beginning of the Sacred Paschal Triduum. The Holy Mass commemorated the institution of the Holy Eucharist and the priesthood, drawing a large gathering of parishioners united in prayer and reflection.

This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.

The solemn liturgy centered on the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist, during which the faithful participated in the sharing of the consecrated unleavened bread, symbolizing the Body of Christ. This sacred act represents the Last Supper, when Jesus offered Himself for the salvation of humanity.

A significant and moving part of the celebration was the Rite of the Washing of the Feet (Mandatum), where the priests humbly washed and kissed the feet of selected parishioners. This ritual reflects Christ’s act of humility and service to His disciples, reminding all present of the call to love and serve one another selflessly.

The liturgy was conducted with solemn hymns and prayers, creating a spiritually enriching atmosphere. The faithful actively participated, meditating on the themes of sacrifice, humility, and divine love.

The celebration concluded with the transfer of the Blessed Sacrament to the altar of repose, inviting the congregation into a time of silent adoration, marking the beginning of the Lord’s Passion.
